Delegations to the Decision Makers

Presentation to Nanaimo City Councillors

On Monday Jan 8th Ilan appeared as a delegation before the Nanaimo city council Committee of the Whole meeting. He delivered 2300+ postcards addressed to them by Nanaimo residents in support of the Nanaimo Recycling Exchange, and spoke to the councilors about the feedback he has received from NRE users over the course of this campaign. He also revealed our data map for the first time and it made a big impression.

“This is a good expenditure for the people and the people need it and most of all, future generations need it. Our environment needs it,” Yoachim said. – Nanaimo News Bulletin

Presentation to the RDN Board of Directors

On Tuesday Jan 9th Ilan made another appearance as a delegation before the Regional District of Nanaimo board of directors. This is the level of government where the fate of the NRE currently sits. Ilan’s presentation emphasized that although the large majority of NRE users live in the city of Nanaimo, people from every part of the RDN utilize the Nanaimo Recycling Exchange and want to see it continue to serve our mid island communities.

At the meeting, Bill Veenhof, board chairman, said the district recognized the exchange is a “valuable resource to the larger Nanaimo community,” – Nanaimo News Bulletin
